Ghost Online has a more boring oriental style, but the environments look betterl; more, nicer features, and the level cap is lower.
MapleStory has better character sprites, nicer music, a decent amount of features, and a higher level cap.
Neither is dependant on the cash shop.
So really its if you like to have the odd pvp every now and again....
Reputation: 10Ghost online was made before MS.
But.. MS is better imo.
WhY? Because Fudgefoot says so ~
Reputation: 10Well...
Ghost Online from my Experience is just way to cartoonish/ worst then MS!
+ It's hard to hit monsters, lol MS It's alot easier to defend ur self.. on ghost online it's hard to hit backspace and run back bcz all the monsters are different and it just get's annoying [ I'm probably just saying that because I started maplestory First] and that's what Im used to...
Anyways Maplestory cash shop is alot better then Ghost online... lulz.
This is all IMO.. lol post what u think of me `
From screen shots and what i've seen of maplestory in game it seems ms is not Cartoonish... but hey lol who cares about that... I'm going to switch to Ghost cuz I like to pvp every now and again and 2d side scroller pvp just sounds epic to me lol
Reputation: 10yea man do whatever u want, but im pretty sure after u play some GO, the annoying chineese music/ characters will get to ur head and MS will bring u back ^O^
if not otherwise have fun on GO
kiklol
:P lol, thanks but I actually like the Asian culture... The music and history etc... it interests me.
Reputation: 52Ghost Online is a simpler more asian form of Maple Story...
Ghost online has pets. Yes, MS has pets to but it depends on your job. Unlike MS, in Ghost, any job can have any pets. I think MS is more cartoony than Ghost though.
I have notice something about exp in Ghost compared to MS. In Ghost, you will have to fight monsters your level and it takes a long time to kill them. Since it's so long to kill a monster, another monster comes up and you accidentally whack it. Now two monster chases you and your basically screwed because if you hit 1 monster, the other one will get you. This will last even longer since you can't control who you attack so the damage is divided between two monsters.
In MS, on the other hand, people generally grind on monsters that they 1 or 2 hit kill so it's easier. Let's say a monster requires 2 hits. You hit the monster once and another monster pops up and you accidentally attack it. Two monsters are chasing you but it'll be faster to kill both of them hence the fight isn't as long as Ghost.
I feel more comfortable with MS grind than Ghost. It's annoying to attack a monster then suddenly another monster starts chasing you.
Reputation: 10You level faster in ghost and theyre basically the same game, but ghost has PVP.
MS is just a chat room where you spend money.
well with ghost online, i think skill is an important factor. the way you move your character around away and toward enemies. with your running skills, jumping skills, dodging skills, its all in the way you distribute your points and how effective your fingers are with the keyboard. unlike maple story, its more of spamming a skill, and having more patience. the environmental feeling is pretty different, maple story is set to a more modern time period, oh, and it has an archer class. where ghost online, is more like an asian thing, not sure how else to put it.
Reputation: 10I prefer Ghost Online over Maplestory, especially the running speed and how high you can jump. It was kind of painful trying to jump over monsters in Maplestory x_x Also, I don't really think it takes that long to kill monsters and the lvling is a lot easier. (I got to level 30 in 2 days and I was doing that casually) Heck, I want the monsters to be more aggressive, I don't get enough chasing me =< (I find it hard to get killed so a challenge is more fun and it's even more fun using AOEs X3 I'm a Mage btw)
In terms of graphics, neither win really, they're both different styles and I don't hate either one. In my opinion though, MS is more cartoony especially since the body sizes aren't exactly right but cartoony doesn't mean it's bad. Though, many people don't like oriental (Asian) style games so that's something you should think about. (Well, you said you thought it was interesting so XP)
EDIT: Wait, now that I look at it, Ghost characters also have rather big heads compared to their bodies >_> (Though, not as noticeable since I guess having a small head would limit to what you could do using pixels and all)
They did when they mentioned Ghost has PVP. (Well, what I mean is it's pointless saying ghost has pvp if they both have pvp but they say ghost has pvp so...)

Reputation: 20I've played both and as you can see by my siggy I chose maple over GO. I just found maple more fun. Sure, it's a grindfest, but there's just something so addicting about it. The party quests make it so addicting at lower levels.Boss runs are always fun, too. Just make sure to make buddies, or you'll be bored out of your ****ing mind later on when you have to grind without party quests.
