Old news. It's Mayhem tour. DragonForce does not justify my presence there considering there are shit bands like Slipknot and Disturbed and Mastodon and Protest the Hero and the like, playing there too.
AND, considering DragonForce is opening for Slipknot and Disturbed, when it should be the other way around.

Because to me, Slipknot, their music, their entire band, is just a gimmick.
Slipknot makes money on the ideal that it's "cool" to listen to music your parents hate. That's why they're so popular with 15 year olds everywhere. They have scary masks, they make angry music, your parents hate them, what more could you ask for in a band?
They have like 9 members, and four of them don't even ****ing do anything. They bang trash cans and stupid shit like that. Like what the ****?

I personally really hate their music, I can't stand it, but that's not to say it's bad music. Who am I to judge, people hate real metal too.
Are you ****ing kidding me? Just one of DragonForce's members has more talent than that entire band. The fact that they suck live is no real testament to their talent anyway because they have also been known to play well live, but no one focuses on those shows, because it's fun to hate on the good guys. Not to mention Herman Li has played along Steve Vai. I don't even KNOW the guitarist from Protest The Hero's NAME. I know he's got some skill, I'll give him that, but I've yet to see him get as much recognition as Herman Li. I just don't know where kids get off on telling metal bands that they aren't metal, because they listen to a band who play fast, and have more poppy chorus breaks than any self-respecting metal band should have, before calling themselves metal.

That's why labels like -core truly exist. Because idiot kids don't want to admit that the genre they chain themselves to might actually contain shit music, so they label it something else.
I hate Nickelback, but it doesn't change the fact that they're a rock band. Same as loving "metal" doesn't mean bands you dislike are not metal.

It's not the fact that they came first, it's the fact that Slipknot, and the members of said band, have been loving and playing metal since before you knew what metal was. So stop criticising them as if they're not metal, or less credible, simply cos you have this decided idea of what "REAL METUL" is.

If you truly want to break it down? Dragonforce have choruses that many musicologists could TECHNICALLY define as pop-esque, but if they came under fire, you'd be the first jumping to the defense of their metal tag. Some of the stuff they do is further from metal than Slipknot, but of course, you like them, so you'll disagree with this. I am not chaining myself to metal, so I have a far more unbiased, objective view of the genre than you do, because you are personally invested in it.

I disagree with his opinion of SlipKnot but I'm not going to say his opinion is wrong. He is entitled to it, just like I am entitled to have mine.
