"1Up: VP Scott Rohde discusses the FFXIII shocker, Sony's product strategy, and more.
Whether you thought its press conference was the best of the bunch or were bored to tears by it, you'd be hard-pressed to deny that E3 week has been big for Sony in several ways. Among announcing a handful of new titles, showcasing several eagerly awaited ones, and losing one of their biggest third-party exclusives, the list of upcoming game releases for Sony is more important than ever. I had a chance to speak to Sony Vice President of Product Development Scott Rohde about the company's E3 showing alongside Sony PR manager Ron Eagle on Wednesday afternoon."
I still think there is a long way to go in graphical improvement in games.
heck just looks at the "Human Head" demo for Nvidia or the Medusa one....
"Human Head" computes 17 offscreen textures every frame totaling over 40 Million pixels, each shaded with lengthy pixel shaders. That's more than 1.2 billion pixels every second!
Meh, AMAZING graphics are all this game has really to show for itself. People all over are saying it's just a pretty looking generic shooter and so far Guerilla isn't doing a good job on proving them wrong. I want the game to be good but I also don't want to get my hopes up. Reasons why I think the game will fall under it's own hype:
1. Lack of talent, although you could argue the team on KZ 2 is bigger than their previous games there hasn't been anyone noticably talented on the team mentioned alot.
2. Just trailers showcasing graphics with generic gameplay and some stilted AI. Motion blur is cool but it seems to be used too much to hide something.
3. It's been pushed back too goddamn long, c'mon people we get an actual trailer 1 years ago and this is all you've done? Jesus christ, how do you plan on finishing it by Februrary or even 2009?
4. Falls into the next-gen "brown, grey, and black" colors. Srsly, I know KZ 1 was dark and all but could you atleast make it have some ****ing color someplace?
