[Diablo 2] Unable to Identify application?

Blaaargh.
So, my friend FINALLY sent me over Diablo 2 and Lords of Destruction with the v 112 patch. (That one that doesn't need a CD in order to play.)

Now, I tryed to connect to battle.net, but I can't!
I keep getting, "Unable to identify application, please go to blah blah blah."

I went to Blizzard support...they said I might need to reinstall the patch. So, I did, but nothing changed.

So, cany anybody help me?
Or is Battle.net going under maintence or something?
