anyone still playing FFXI

I've gotten the urge to play FFXI again. Though WAR beta is amazing, I don't have the heart to play hardcore when I know my character will be deleted. I'd love to com back to FFXI for a while. Back in the day I had a 53brd/50whm, though if I came back I'd want to start a new character and play through all of the story from the beginning.

So, is anyone interested in either starting a new character with me or helping me get back into the game as a new character? I'll probably go WHM again and then go Scholar, as that looks interesting.

People still play, but it's somewhat hard to find people to party with nowadays
That's usually between Dunes and Qufin (sp?) though (at least on Bismark). After that it should be faster

I play, i have no trouble finding party's, i get them pretty quick

currently lvl 24, i heard that ppl go to kazam at 25, i still need the keys to get aboard



btw population wise the game is pretty strong.

I'm playing on sylph with a few people from onrpg.

Currently level 57 with White mage.

Just got scholar to 30 two days ago.

I'd help out as best I can, but I'm a bit busy lately.

Onrpg = Sylph and Bahamut mainly, i'm on bahamut.

Bahamut is a great server, i found many ppl to play with, and i realy like the community.

hyarume, you will have to level WHM more if you want to main SMN.
Due to your large MP pool, you're going to be forced into being a WHM substitute in 9 out of 10 EXP Parties.
So you'll have to play SMN/WHM, at least for a while, because RDMs have a higher level req. on the stronger Cure spells.
Of course, you'll also be supporting your Party with Blood Pacts such as AoE Stoneskin/Blink and the Fenrir buffs/de-buffs.

I don't know who told you that you could sub "anything you want".

Having a good main-job/sub-job combo is one of the biggest parts of this game.

As for SCH sub-job... whoever said SCH/RDM was right, but that doesn't become efficient until the later levels.

At level 40, you get a Job Ability called "Accession".
It makes your next buff spell AoE (affects your entire Party)
This is extremely helpful because, without Accession, there are many powerful buffs that can only be cast upon yourself,
such as Stoneskin, Phalanx, and the En-spells, which enchants your attacks with elemental damage. Phalanx and the En-spells are RDM-exclusives.
Being able to cast these spells on your entire Party is something that no other job can do... (which IMO makes SCH a bit overpowered)
But, yeah, it's your choice when to switch over to SCH/RDM, I obviously wouldn't recommend it before 40...
Until then, I would go SCH/BLM completely, nuking and enfeebling.
SCH/WHM is okay if they want you to main-heal.

P.S. hyarume, who plays on Bahamut besides you...?
