Default aion - fail of 2009?

    What do you think?
I must say that I was really amazed of that game, at first.
Everything looked so promising and that flying feature was really cool.
    Plus the good graphics.
I thought that that game will be a really awesome nextgen mmorpg.
However now I think it'll go down very soon, after it's release in europe/america.
    Think about it:
what features does AION have that many other games don't?
Flying is really nothing unique anymore.
Good graphics..it won't take a year, till games with better graphics will come out(not the art style but engine-wise)
NPC faction....a feature that might fail.
And then the classes...how lazy can devs be?
You have the very same classes, for each race.....on top of that they don't even have any differences, other than their appearance(tell me, if I'm wrong).
And so on.....it'll probably be a generic asia grinder.

who knows mate, I personally think itll be better than the majoirty of crap...ok nothing revolutionary at all but a much higher standard than what we usually get and with the way the MMOPRG industry is at the moment, thats all we can hope for.

we really wont know til we play it....

i kinda doubt it will flop, its exactly the game that most of us are used to play and like. asian style

if they cut the grind in half unlike Lineage 2 and such,i see it gathering several million players in west easily.
and you can be sure it will be a bestseller in asia

Maybe it'll be a flop, maybe not. But anyways, WAR comes at Sep 23 this year so no time for Aion

Still nothing SOLID on that date apart from some random staff member apparantly letting the date 'slip'.

I still can't believe WAR has cut out the Black Ork and Dwarvern Hammerer.

I wanted to be the latter.

im waiting for next week's newsletter, sep-23th, even tho very widespread,is just a rumor still.
if the leaked info is correct, there's supposed to be just 9 days of open beta for CE buyers...which is ******ed imho.

edit: @karanos,i feel your pain. i was ohsomuch dreaming about rolling a BlackGuard .anyway i bet the game will own,and we'll have heaps of content till the patch with those 4 classes arrives.

If they take a lesson from Lineage 2 and make the combat interesting (which from what I've seen they have), it should do just fine.

they said that maxing a char will be around 250 hours. that is, <3 months playing 3 hours daily. that doesnt seem like a speedup leveling, but anyway...

now the thing is,what can you do in that 250 hours? PvE,thats for sure. and raids. and PvP will give you as much exp as killing mobs. and capturing outposts, keeps. and city sieges. and public quests. and racial quests. and capitol sieges. and king's attacks. and advancing in your Tome of knowledge.

all that will make you level and advance in your archetypes. that differs from my concept of grind

not only that, also Mythic speficically said that grinding more than others wont get you any signficant advantage.the best stuff in the game can be achieved by going to capitol sieges and slaying the king or finishing quests derived from the siege inside that capitol.or crafting.not by killing thousands of X mob for hours for a good drop, nor going to 6 hour long raids after a boss.

and finally, after the newbie area, you can go thru the whole game without killing not even 1 mob (out of a quest or not). the only thing you are missing is content, and thats up to you.

if with all that you still consider thats grind, drop the mmorpgs. no offence intended, just trying to be helpful. looks like nothing without pserver rates will ever satisfy you, and pservers are mostly crap anyway,in terms of communities content balance and bugs.

by my side,im quite sure im gonna cap several characters without even noticing i have grinded a single second of my playtime.
    well said.
Btw, black orks weren't taken from the game @the guy, who said that

Oh and I've got a question:
In all the CB videos I've seen(WAR) the fighting looked really boring.
    It's like:
    I hit
    you hit
    I hit
    you hit
    I hit
    you hit
    I hit
    you hit
And so on....that can't be it, now can it?
I'm aware of the fact that the chars seen in those videos were/are lowlv.
    But that's no excuse.
They at least try making it more like 'eye candy' for the players.
Also, I've noticed that it kinda lacks in fight animations. always the very same shit of an animation......:/
Does someone know if they fixed that?
