Had to level my thief to sub it for sam, 24-34 in a day, no lack of parties there.

My problem is that you're sort of pressuring people into playing it,
telling them that it's a perfect game.
Well, you can lie to them all you want, but first of all:
It is difficult to find a Party.
Extremely difficult.
I've looked for Parties for 12 hours straight (on multiple occassions)
without any invites.
That's on White Mage, essential for almost any Party.
Now, what if you don't want to play a support job or tank,
that's high in demand amongst Parties?
Well, you're ****ed.
Not just the lack of population/Parties, but certain jobs are just considered "bad", or not suitable for group play.
Beastmasters are forced into soloing or duoing with their pets at all times,
Puppetmasters are generally seen as an overall shitty job,
Summoners are considered such shitty damage-dealers that, until 70+, (and even, usually, then) they're forced into being a White Mage substitute, as SMN/WHM...
As for melee damage-dealers, there's usually so many lying around...
whether you get picked or not to be invited to a Party is just luck.
Even Black Mages, some of the greatest damage dealers in the game,
have an extremely difficult time levelling up past 60,
since Colibri, your best source of decent EXP at that level,
reflect magic.
And hyarume, if you got Party invites so often, you wouldn't still be level 26.
Even on my shitty server with 1500 people average, I got my BLM sub-job from 1 to 37 in 2 days.
By the way, PvP isn't bad in this game. The problem is that nobody participates.
If you can get on during popular JP hours (around 4:00AM~12:00PM EST...) a lot of those players are interested and do participate.
Now, enough about how crappy it is.
Final Fantasy XI, because someone else was asking this, does feel like other Final Fantasy titles.
The gameplay/combat itself is very similar to Final Fantasy XII.
As someone who's gotten through all of the major storylines of the game, excluding Wings of the Goddess which is not yet complete, I can tell you that the story is amazing.
And, more importantly, you don't have to be 75 to enjoy much of this content.
You can dive into the "Chains of Promathia" storyline at the low level of 30, after enjoying a few cutscenes. After completing three different "dungeons" called Promyvion-Holla, Promyvion-Mea, and Promyvion-Dem, (and defeating their bosses, which is actually the real challenge...) you can actually unlock an entire new continent, which includes some of my favorite areas in the entire game.
The new "Wings of the Goddess" can be started as soon as you arrive in the city of Jeuno around level 20.
Travelling to one of the Cavernous Maws around Jeuno will actually send you back in time. It's really interesting to see all of the areas you've become so familiar with in the past, and being involved with the storyline of the "Crystal War".
As for levelling, it is a huge grind. For example, all of the experience points you accumulate between level 1 and 60 are about equal to the experience points you need to get from 60 to 75.
But playing with a Party can be really fun, if you manage to get one. You might even make friends in this process.
I've been playing this game way too long. I need to write a damn review and make $10.
and i'm not pressuring anyone
atleast not intended too.
pikko, i wanna go in Wotg if you say so, cab you tell me how? and what i can do there?
(i accidentally entered it in rolanberry fields once)
Really at lvl 20?
i'm 26 and 10' i play, but i'm not always lvling, and well, i'm onlime 2hr+ a day
Realy i get pts all the time, but i was very very slow in the start
Wait...
So you're saying that the invite rate is slow but at the same time you're saying.
I don't see how getting from the start of the game to the middle level in 2 days is slow.Even on my shitty server with 1500 people average, I got my BLM sub-job from 1 to 37 in 2 days.
lol. I don't know. My friends and I sort of take turns PLing, so that helped.
I don't like BLM much, so I was sort of acting like a game ***** on those days, trying to get it over with. I think we went through Valkurm and Qufim into Yuhtunga Jungle with one Party, just replacing anyone who left.
Reputation: 119Hmm so far this is reminding me of DnDo which makes me glad I didn't get it..DDO was a great game but there was a big lack of parties...usually there was one party going through the nubling dungeons and maybe one or two in the teens going through big raids and such...it made it sorta like if you missed the party for your level you were screwed for a good 2-3 hours unless you had a friend. I ended up quitting because of that though I did make a lot of good friends and I still like the game...without some sort of population increase in the lower levels the game just suffers, as this one seems to be suffering from it as well.
The game isn't necessarily lacking, per se; your able to take any job path you want without penalty switching, but population starts to lack in the lower levels because some people who hit 75 on one job never level any other job after that, or have already on a few jobs and are busy with endgame.
It's really hit or miss about party play at lower levels. Basically figure out when you'll normally be playing, and then check populations accordingly. Do a little googling on your server for forums and information to see if there is anyone returning on a new character, or a low-level static party. Bahamut was a better choice for me because my play hours usually had higher peeks than I saw playing elsewhere. I'm an advocate of Quantity > Quality at most points of server population, since the more people there are, the more chances of finding people your level playing, even if they play drooling on there keyboard, rolling there face across there macros for their entire career in FFXI.
So, basically become WoW? Totally ruins the Final Fantasy aspect. I, including probably lots of people, enjoy the whole interchanging class aspect; means I don't need to keep track of another character.
I don't see how that still hurts our playerbase and how your suggestion would help. On your road to 75, you'll be unlocking many other perks that will be helpful to your 19 other alter-egos that you can keep, level pending, over your career: the chocobo license, airship pass, key quests to get into certian areas, mission progression, and fame to name a few things. The chocobo license quest takes 3-6 hours, depending how you do it, itself at level 20, and is pretty essential. I wouldn't want to do that again, yet have to get a subjob again, and also Genkai 1-5 and fighting Maat for the billionth time to get to 75.
Just kidding. I had fun with the game, but it just moves so damn slow! Damnit!
