APB: Reloaded Much More Than A Simple Relaunch!

Back in November of last year we broke the news that APB was making a comeback under the capable wings of GamersFirst and at GDC we have seen that this is NOT vaporware. APB is back under the great name APB: Reloaded and GamersFirst is doing some fantastic work on reworking the core mechanics of the game to not only bring APB back, but to bring it back a much better game than before!

When the first version of All Points Bulletin went down after only three months most players assumed they’d never see their characters and perhaps more importantly: their designs back.

There was a small light at the end of the tunnel when rumors emerged that APB was going to get “rescued” and in November we were happy to report that the game had indeed been picked up by GamersFirst (K2 Network) who are currently working on improving the game greatly before relaunching it.

APB has been in the news an awful lot recently. Just over a month ago reports snuck out that K2 Network purchased the rights to APB after the game went up for sale. Those reports were indeed correct and Reloaded Productions (Part of K2) confirmed the purchase a week later with an official press release.

GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that K2 Network, the company behind free-to-play service GamersFirst, has bought the APB intellectual property from defunct studio Realtime Worlds for somewhere in the region of £1.5million.

    Ah, APB Reloaded…Stay away, folks. Nothing but cash shop winners and a bunch of hackers that track through walls. Also, no barrier between higher end means starting off is a pain in the ass.
