Open Beta

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – July 19, 2007 – Gala-Net, Inc., a subsidiary of global online community company Gala, Inc., announced today that the highly anticipated online multiplayer racing and combat game Upshift StrikeRacer is now in open beta and available to the public.  Racing fans interested in trying the asphalt-burning and knuckle-whitening action of Upshift StrikeRacer can go to http://strikeracer.gpotato.com to download the client, sign up and start playing.

Upshift StrikeRacer open beta players will be among the first to experience the game’s quick, intense and explosive races, where a steady trigger finger is just as important as a lead foot.  The open beta will showcase 10 of the high-octane game’s upcoming 18 available customizable vehicles, ranging from sexy sports cars to hulking SUVs, an awesome array of weapons and 19 of Upshift StrikeRacer’s many unique maps with shortcuts and obstacles that add additional chaos to the vehicular mayhem.

“Either from home or from the office, anyone with five minutes to kill and a desire for intense, fast-action racing mixed with fiery combat should get into Upshift StrikeRacer’s open beta,” said John Young, vice president and producer, Gala-Net.  “The game’s unique mix of head-to-head racing and social networking in a multi-player environment will appeal to both solo and group players looking for a quick and exhilarating gaming fix.”

Upshift StrikeRacer is the first free-to-play online game to combine modern vehicles with a full arsenal of weaponry and a robust community for gamers looking both for social networking and for head-to-head destructive racing battles on a multiplayer scale.  Players can compete with up to seven other StrikeRacers at a time through multiple modes of play including Team versus Team, straight timed racing and the no-holds barred StrikeRacing mode, pitting both their driving skills and their arsenals against each other.   Extensive player community tools include the ability for StrikeRacers to create their own Club web pages onto which they can upload photos and music, share their blogs and network with other StrikeRacers around the world to develop real-world friendships.

Upshift StrikeRacer’s open beta period will run until the game officially launches in August.
