Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout Shows Off Battle and Game Systems

Koei Tecmo and GUST Studios revealed new gameplay details today for their upcoming Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. A revamped battle system will come with this latest Atelier title, and it will also have new special gathering locations to explore and share. Some of these gathering locations are made by Ryza herself, and players can obtain special bottles, which can be combined with other items. These will create an abundance of new gathering locations, overflowing with raw materials.

An example of this is Plant Essence can create a fantastical forest area; while a Bomb can create a dangerous volcanic field overflowing with lava. Once the environment is created, a unique four-character password is attached to the area, which can then be shown off and shared with friends or across social media – enabling other gamers to explore the exact same area.

Atelier Ryza will also feature a new real-time tactical battle system. In it, battles will progress even while character actions are being chosen. Players will perform skills, critical attacks or use abilities outside of the player’s turn, using the “Quick Actions” technique to drain the players Action Points. These points are shared between all party members, so it is extremely important to use them strategically in the battle to gain the upper hand. As the AP gauge is filled, players will also increase their in-battle level known as Tactics Level. The higher the Tactics Level a party gains, the more powerful attacks they can use; also enabling special combos to be performed.

Atelier Ryza will launch on October 29th, 2019 for the Nintendo Switch, PLaystation 4, and on PC via Steam.
