GRIP: Combat Racing is releasing a massive new update today that will shake the foundations of the futuristic anti-grav race, with a whole new vehicle class. The AirBlade is a new vehicle type and unites two genres from the 90s into one place. Anti-Grave Racers known as “AirBlades” are powered by an Element 115 anti-gravity engine. Like their rolling counterparts, they can also flip over and continue racing.
So instead of rolling, they hover, much as you’d see in F-Zero. AirBlades are available on all original tracks that launched with GRIP, and the new levels that are set out in space, and on top of that, they’re free! This update also adds further features for GRIP: Combat Racing, making it feel like two games in one. Racers can now choose how and where they drive, and it’s sure to make the pulse-pounding speed feel even more intense.
“I’m pretty sure if WipeOut and Rollcage hooked up, this is the baby they’d pop out.’ said Leo Zullo, Managing Director of Wired Productions. “It’s beyond exciting to finally be able to reveal AirBlades, as we see it as a true game-changer and industry first. GRIP: Combat Racing is a fantastic game and, thanks to the mighty talented team at Caged Element with their visionary idea and commitment, gamers are now able to experience an even more truly amazing and unique experience that helps to redefine the racing genre.”
