FFXIV: How to Unlock Sage and Reaper

Finally, the long wait is over, and we are able to enjoy the Endwalker expansion in Final Fantasy XIV. Square Enix added two new Jobs to the game with this expansion: Reaper and Sage. If you are excited to experience these new classes, then you are in the right place. In our guide, we are going to tell you how to unlock Sage and Reaper.

Quick Tip: Purchase Gil to Get the Most Out of FFXIV: Endwalker

Whether you are playing as a Sage, a Reaper, or another class in FFXIV: Endwalker, you are going to be going up against some challenging bosses in spectacular new dungeons. That means you are going to want to be armed to the teeth.

So, before we jump into our unlock guide, here is a quick tip. Consider purchasing some FFXIV Gil at a site like PlayerAuctions. On this site, you can purchase Gil to be delivered to your account within just 20 minutes. You can also buy items through the same site. And if you need to level up before you proceed with the unlocks below, you can hire someone to power level your account. Alternately, you can buy an account that is already leveled.

How to Unlock Reaper

Now let’s talk about how to unlock Sage and Reaper, starting with Reaper. This Job is available to unlock now to players who have purchased Endwalker and meet the prerequisites. What are those prerequisites? You need to be at least level 70 with another Job that falls under the umbrellas of Magic or War. You cannot use a Gathering or Crafting class to satisfy the requirement.

Once you are level 70 in an appropriate Job, you can make your way to the Steps of Nald in Ul’dah. There, you should go to X:12.8, Y:8.6 and look for the Flustered Attendant. That NPC can give you the quest you need to unlock the Reaper class.

Want to learn more about the Reaper Job? The official blurb says:

“The Garleans’ forebears were once humble farmers who made their home among the sun-drenched fields of southern Ilsabard. That was, until they were driven from this paradise by invaders wielding arcane magicks … A daring few found their answer within the void, binding themselves to its creatures to gain verboten power─power fed by the souls of the slain. Once more they took up their scythes, this time to reap a crimson harvest.”

If you play a Reaper, you will be able to use Job Actions like Slice, Shadow of Death, Hell’s Ingress, Hell’s Egress, Spinning Scythe, Arcane Crest, Nightmare Scythe, and more.

How to Unlock Sage

If you are interested in a Job that has more of a healing focus, Sage may suit you better than Reaper. In fact, this class combines healing with shielding. So, if you enjoy playing in a support role, this Job may be just what you are looking for. Once again, to unlock this class, you need to start by getting Endwalker if you do not yet have it. You then need to level up to 70 with a War or Magic Job. Once again, you cannot use a Gathering or Crafting Job for this requirement.

After you are level 70 in your Job, you can take the steps to initiate the quest that will help you to unlock the Sage class. Make your way to the lower decks in Limsa Lominsa. Then, travel to X:9.4, Y:12.9, where you will find the Sharlayan Maiden. Converse with this NPC, and you will unlock the Sage Job.

The official blurb for the Sage Job describes,

“an altruistic art which draws upon the wisdom of aetherology, sorcery, and medicine. Dubbed somanoutics, the art seeks to heal and protect by manipulating corporeal aether through the use of nouliths, a flying array of foci. Practitioners are dedicated to the betterment of mankind, and for their wisdom and compassion, eventually came to be known simply as sages.”

As a Sage, some of your Job Actions will include Dosis, Diagnosis, Kardia, Prognosis, Egeiro, Physis, Icarus, and more.
